Volatile week for Indian rupee
Tuesday, January 3, 2012
NEW DELHI : It has been a volatile week for the Indian currency, which saw the rupee hitting an all-time low of around 53 to the US dollar.
And this has forced the Reserve Bank of India to step in yet again to prop up the unit. The government is blaming the recent falls in the rupee on heavy foreign capital outflows and said it has limited policy options to stem the slide.
Emerging Asian currencies have come under pressure in recent weeks, as investors move out of riskier assets amid the growing debt crisis in Europe.

INVESTING, THE REMF WAY
Over the past decade, the real estate sector in India has emerged as one of the fastest growing segments, driven by a growing and liberalised economy, improving urban infrastructure, favourable demographics, better employment opportunities, rising Income and low mortgage-to-eamings ratios. These factors have led to an increasing demand for residl!Dtial, commercial and retail spaces, hotels, educational institutions and hospitals, across the social strata of our country. Capital values of real estate across the country, have almost doubled in the last decade, suggesting that demand coatillues to exceed supply. ~,from an investment 11..,,:1:6",
